Jennifer Wahlers - Principal/Owner

Jen has 13 years of experience in historic preservation analysis and research, working in both the public and private sector prior to establishing Architectural and Cultural History Professionals (ARCH Professionals), LLC in 2016. She has developed, issued, provided guidance concerning, and reviewed historical resource reports and site inventory forms to satisfy the requirements of the Federal Highway Administration, the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and the Keeper of the National Register of Historic Places. Jen's specialization in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act indicates her thorough understanding of and comfort with National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility criteria as well as effects determinations.

Jen received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005 and her Master of Historic Preservation from the University of Kentucky in 2007. Following graduate school, Jen worked at Colorado's statewide non-profit preservation advocacy organization, Colorado Preservation, Inc. before joining the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) as an Assistant Staff Historian. While at CDOT, Jen gained invaluable experience and fostered important relationships with CDOT project managers and SHPO staff, all while ensuring project compliance with federal preservation laws and meeting project deadlines. In addition, Jen was involved in CDOT's centennial celebration as well as helping to establish an archive of the department's historic photograph and negative collections. In 2012, Jen began working as a consultant in the private sector, where she stayed until establishing her own cultural resources consulting firm, ARCH Professionals, in 2016. This unique mix of non-profit, public, and private sector experience gives Jen a unique perspective and understanding of the skills and steps required to successfully usher resources through the survey and compliance process.
